Just in time for their latest arrival, the Sharpe family's contemporary new home in Bangalow, northern New South Wales, has been completed with the use of ZINCALUME® steel.

Designed and built by owner Tim Sharpe and his wife Rani to accommodate their growing family, the new house features an eclectic mix of composite materials including steel, concrete tilt panels, brick veneer and timber, giving the house a striking aesthetic.

ZINCALUME® steel was used for the roofing, guttering, underside of the ceilings on the veranda and as wall cladding on the lower part of the exterior walls.

The Sharpe's opted for ZINCALUME® steel because they love its authentic Australian look and the clean lines that it creates. It was chosen for the wall cladding in particular because it is low maintenance, cost effective and weather proof.

According to Tim: "We decided to go with ZINCALUME® steel for a large proportion of the house's exterior because it is durable and protects the lower parts of exterior walls where weather hits the most. It also looks great and creates an interesting design feature on the underside of roofing and is great for collecting rainwater from the skillion roof."

Inside the four bedroom house, steel beams were used to create wide ceiling spans and an open, floating look. Other unusual design features include fibre optic lighting in the walls, heated floors and recessed skirting boards.
