Connecting Wall Junctions

FRAME CONNECTIONS

Wall junctions are connected using mid-connector plates. The top of the wall panels are secured using either shear connectors, nails or screws depending on the stud system used.

Nail Selection

The approved nail for frame fixing is either a DUO FAST® S33/55 SHMP or Able Cooke SENCO® GOLD nail.

Mid-Connector Plates

Bend up the relevant tab and fit through the service hole of the incoming panel. Tab down using your thumb or a hammer. Refer to diagrams below for common wall junctions.

Shear Connectors

Boxed Stud

Connect the top of wall panels by nailing angle shear connectors to the top of studs as per the diagrams overleaf. Alternatively, only apply shear connectors where a braced internal wall intersects an external wall, with the remaining junctions nailed with two approved nails.

Open Stud

For braced walls, screw shear connectors to the top plates as per the diagrams overleaf. For non-braced walls, screw junctions as per diagrams.
