Key parts of regional South Australia are continuing to ride a housing boom despite the economic downturn according to local framing company Steel Frame Solutions.

Driven by low interest rates, the first home owners grant and burgeoning local industries, cities on the Spencer Gulf, Eyre Peninsula and in the Far North are a hive of housing activity.

Steel Frame Solutions, one of Australia's major steel frame and truss producers , has recently completed 50 houses in Whyalla (with another 50 already planned), 32 in Roxby Downs and a further 85 are earmarked for Port Lincoln, all with frames made from TRUECORE® steel.

State Manager at Steel Frame Solutions, Gary Scott, said the company is continuing to see massive potential in the regional areas of South Australia:

"Whyalla has earmarked 1,200 housing blocks for sale as part of a staged release and a new subdivision of 4,000 houses is on the drawing board in Port Augusta."

Steel Frame Solutions has set a challenging target of increasing production by 50 per cent over the next two years.

"We expect to see growth in regional areas that have attracted both corporate and government investment," Mr Scott said. "Steel Frame Solutions will play a significant role in that future as builders and developers see the advantages of building with house frames made from TRUECORE® steel as it won’t rot, warp, twist, burn or be destroyed by termites or borers."

Mark Eckermann, Business Development Manager for BlueScope Steel, says this positive growth is reflective of the numerous benefits of building with steel:

"As one of the first parts of a house to be built and its core for years to come, a house frame needs to be strong and durable whatever environment it has been built in. A house frame made from TRUECORE® steel remains straight and true, is resistant to termites and is non combustible.

"Also important is the fact that steel building frames offer a very ‘future considerate’ solution. Steel is one of the most recycled materials on earth and all steel made by BlueScope Steel includes recycled steel in its manufacture. Landfill waste is reduced through off-site fabrication of frames and trusses facilitating efficient recycling of any steel waste."

Designed especially for the Australian market, frames made from TRUECORE® steel come with 50 year warranty* and provide peace of mind to both the builder and homeowner alike.
