6. Grabstick Makes Life a Breeze for Roofers |
The
Grabstick, a magnetic tool to clamp insulating paper
to the battens, is winning over roofing contractors
who say it makes working with steel battens substantially
easier and quicker than using traditional battens.
Developed by Bendigo inventor and tradesman Warrick
Smith, the Grabstick uses two high-tech neodymium
magnets to clamp the paper securely and neatly to
steel battens, even when the wind reaches levels that
would normally put a stop to roofing work. Read more

8. Did You Know... |
Five
completely trivial but fun facts to boggle your mind.
The theme for this edition of 'S.O.S' is space. Did
you know:
- Pioneer
11's speed going past Jupiter was over 172,200 kph,
the fastest speed ever traveled by a man-made object.
- If
you attempted to count the stars in a galaxy at
a rate of one every second, it would take around
3,000 years to count them all.
- Each
of the Space Shuttle's solid rocket motors burns
5 tons of propellant per second.
- The
accuracy with which Voyager arrived at the planet
Neptune is equivalent to the feat of sinking a 3630
km golf putt (assuming that the golfer can make
a few illegal fine adjustments while the ball is
rolling across this incredibly long green.)
- During
each launch, the Saturn V generated eighty-five
times as much power as the Hoover Dam. The combined
power of the first two stages generated enough energy
to supply all of New York City for 1 hour and 15
minutes.
