1. Steel
Yourself For The New COLORBOND® steel Colour Range
|
Muted
browns, earthy yellows, purplish greys and deep-moody
blues are the absolute latest trends in colour. But
they're only part of the excitement surrounding our
soon-to-be-released colour range. COLORBOND® steel
will also be offering a new pre-painted coating technology
that's proven to look newer for longer. Even in Australia's
harshest conditions. To register your interest in
the new COLORBOND® steel range go to:

2. Cyclonic Area Design Manual for Steel Roofing
& Walling |
This
Cyclonic Area Design Manual for Steel Roofing and
Walling is designed as a reference guide to the correct
installation of the LYSAGHT® range of steel roofing
and walling profiles in cyclonic conditions. If you're
a user of the manual, it's important that you're aware
that the manual has recently been updated. The primary
change in the manual has been made to the batten spacings
table. To view the new version of the manual visit:

The design of new Queensland College of Art has rewarded
architects Bligh Voller Nield and Donovan Hill one
of the 15 preliminary prizes on offer until 31 May
2003 as part of the COLORBOND® Metallic steel
Creative Design Program. With a potential to win six
nights valued at AU$30,000 at the most opulent hotel
in the world, the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai, this
is an opportunity too good to miss. To find out more
about the new Queensland College of Art and how you

4. Bush Retreat Easy On The Environment |
Three
new architecturally designed ridge top retreats in
South Australia's Deep Creek Conservation Park offer
the comforts of home in the middle of a national park,
while minimising their impact on the environment.
These multi award winning cabins are both energy efficient
and self sufficient - using rainwater tanks, solar
heated hot water, wood fires and efficient waste water
treatment - as well as to minimise impact on the delicate
bush surrounds. To find out more about these striking
cabins visit:

5. Coomera Waters Best Of Both Worlds |
Queensland's
newest eco residential resort based around a 17 hectare
lake on the Gold Coast has inspired one of the state's
leading builders to create an ecologically sustainable
home using steel building technology. The Seaview
by Boss Homes at Coomera Waters incorporates energy
efficient principles coupled with a daring design
featuring steel building frames made from ZINCALUME®
steel and roofing made from COLORBOND® steel.

6. Drought - Relief Is Under Our Roofs |
State
and local governments around Australia are actively
promoting water conservation in urban areas through
measures that include a range of rebate schemes designed
to encourage householders to install backyard or under-eaves
rainwater tanks. With many different tank designs
available on the market, it's important that consumers
are aware that tanks made from AQUAPLATE® steel
are the only steel tanks which comply with tough Australian
standards regulating the storage of water fit for
human consumption. To find out more about AQUAPLATE®
steel tanks go to:

8. Did You Know... |
Five
completely trivial but fun facts to boggle your mind.
The theme for this edition of 'S.O.S' is birds. Did
you know:
- Birds
must fly at an average speed of 17.7 km/h to stay
aloft.
- After
bathing, starlings frequently dry themselves off
by using sheep as towels.
- An
albatross can sleep in midair while flying at a
speed of 56km/h.
- A
3 month old baby pelican weighs more than a full
grown adult pelican.
- The
petrel, a small sea bird, drinks only seawater.
If left inland beside fresh water, it will die of
thirst
