2. Suppliers All Pull Together For Dragline Project

A construction project involving dozens of local companies is on track to hand over what will be the second largest operating dragline in the world and one of the largest pieces of mining equipment ever commissioned in Australia. 5. Woodside LNG Train Emission Stacks Get Express Treatment

Leading Western Australian steel fabricator, Pacific Industrial Company (PIC), has recently designed, fabricated, surface treated and refractory lined three emission stacks as part of a major A$2 billion expansion program for Woodside Energy Limited. 6. Fast Facts...
  • During migration birds travel around 3 km high and have been measured at up to 8.5 km high. During normal flight they fly well below 150 m.
  • The smallest bird in the world is the Bee Hummingbird from Cuba and its body measures only 1.25 cm long. The rest of its 6 cm length is made up of the beak and tail.
  • The worlds largest bird is the Ostrich, which can be up to 2.75 m high. It also lays the largest egg weighing in at 1.6 kg.
  • In terms of the percentage of body weight, the largest eggs are laid by Kiwis, some Hummingbirds and some species of Storm-Petrels, which can be up to 25% of their body weight.
  • Most birds fly at around 30 to 50 km/h with significantly higher speeds when under stress. The Peregrine Falcon has been estimated to reach speeds between 150 and 320 km/h when stooping to catch prey.
