3 . Quench and Temper Advances Produce Better, Flatter
XLERPLATE® |
Quenched and tempered plates play a vital role
in the mining, construction and defense industries.
Significant advances in flatness and surface quality
ensure performance and reliability in harsh environments.

plates here:

4 . High Strength Steels - Cost or Economy? |
In
a time of ever increasing cost consciousness,
there is a growing need to consider whole-of-project
costs when specifying materials. High strength
quenched and tempered steels illustrate how the
up front cost of materials can be more than offset
by other factors. Key design benefits include
longer or lighter spans and greater load carrying
capacity. For more information go to:

6 . "Sprawling Void" A Winner For Designbuild
Visitors |
Visitors
to this year's Designbuild tradeshow in Sydney
found themselves in a void. But far from being
an unsettling experience, it proved to be a highlight.
The void in question was the "Sprawling Void",
a huge, gleaming white exhibition space that formed
the centrepiece of Designbuild 2003, held in Sydney
in May. Find out more:

9 . Did You Know... |
Did
you know that in July 1873, Ayres Rock (Uluru)
was discovered by William Christie Goss, a young,
little known explorer on his one and only expedition?
In honour of this discovery of Australia’s
largest monolith, the theme for this months’
trivia is Australian Landforms. Did you know:
-
The highest point on Australian Territory is
actually Mawson's Peak, (located on Heard Island
well south of the Australian continent, approaching
the coast of Antarctica in the Southern Ocean);
Mount Kosciuszko is the highest peak on the
Australian mainland.
- Located
just off the coast of southern Queensland, Fraser
Island is the largest sand island in the world
(165,280 ha).
- Apart
from Antarctica, Australia is the driest continent
in the world. About 35% of the continent receives
so little rain it is effectively desert.
- Ellenborough
Falls, perched on the edge of the New England
Tableland just north of Taree, is regarded as
Australia's tallest single-drop waterfall.
- Lake
Eyre (Australia's largest lake) filled only
three times last century, and Lake Torrens (Australia’s
second largest salt lake) only once.
