1. Innovative Steel Solution For Capral Plant |
A
local Gold Coast firm has come up with an innovative
structural solution for the new A$270 million
Capral Aluminium Extrusion Plant, currently under
construction in Queensland. A Tapered Beam System
made from XLERPLATE® hot rolled plate steel, was
a key contributor to the cost and time efficiency

2 . Rain Water Tanks - Life Cycle Analysis |
An
independent study, conducted by the Centre for
Sustainable Technology at the University of Newcastle,
has compared three types of rainwater tanks -
plastic, steel and concrete - using the Life Cycle
Analysis (LCA) approach. The full details of this

3 . Airport Takes Off With BlueScope Lysaght
And XLERPLATE® |
Construction
on Australia's newest and most efficient airport
passenger terminal is off to a flying start, with
the help of established Adelaide based steel fabricators,
Manuele Engineers, and BlueScope Steel. XLERPLATE®
hot rolled plate steel was used to manufacture
massive structural steel beams allowing clear
spans of up to 41 metres, which were used in conjunction
with LYSAGHT® purlins to build the supporting
