• Australia has played in 7 of the eight World Cup Finals, winning 3 times.
• Highest total in a World Cup game is 398-5 (Sri Lanka v Kenya, Kandy 1995-96). The lowest is 45 (Canada v England, Manchester 1979).
• The two narrowest victories in a World Cup match are both by Australia against India: 1 run - Madras 1987, 1 run - Brisbane 1991.
• The first attempt at staging a Cricket World Cup was made way back in 1912 when Australia, England and South Africa met in a triangular series of tests. The tournament was held in England from June to August 1912 and was won by England.
