3. Huge Headframe A Triumph For RCR Team |
Western
Australia’s biggest mining headframe has
been successfully fabricated using XLERPLATE® hot
rolled steel at RCR’s Welshpool workshops.
The headframe was erected at Newcrest Mining’s
major gold project at Telfer. For more information

6. Kickstart Into The Building Industry |
Gymea
TAFE and BlueScope Steel have created a once in
a lifetime opportunity for students keen to pursue
a career in the building industry. A new 13 week
roof fixer course, for students who have completed
Year 10, 11 or 12, started on 1 March. On completion

It’s the longest trailer of its type in
Australia. And it’s set to revolutionise
BlueScope Lysaght’s operations in New South
Wales. Valued at A$200,000, the massive rear
steer trailer was designed by Gregory’s
Transport, in close collaboration with BlueScope

9. Did You Know... |
Sunday
7 March was Clean Up Australia Day, the facts
this month are related to BlueScope Steel’s
impact on the environment. Did you know:
- BlueScope Steel in Port Kembla planted 4,000 trees
on their site in April 2002
- More
than 200 BlueScope Steel employees participated
in Clean Up Australia Day 2004, collecting
more than 31 cubic metres of rubbish
- Ongoing greening of Port Kembla Steelworks is
creating a suitable environment for birds.
A bird census revealed at least 39 species have been
observed.
It is believed half of these are permanently
resident within the Works
- BlueScope Steel is Australia's leading buyer of
the more than 45,000 tonnes of steel cans recycled
each year through kerbside collections
- Port
Kembla Steelworks has initiated a landmark recycled
water agreement with Sydney Water
that will reduce the Steelworks’ fresh
water consumption by more than 50%, and greatly
reduce
the amount
of waste water going to ocean outfalls
