The Penrith Government Office Building (PGOB) prominently features two types of panels.

The Azure™ Facades panels manufactured by BlueScope Steel are made from AS/NZS 1597 – HW350 XLERPLATE® weathered steel and pre-painted steel. These contrasting finishes run the full height of the seven-storey structure, giving it a unique presence in the city. The selection of the facades was a deliberate attempt by the project architects, Kann Finch, to create a new focal point in Penrith's commercial hub.

Kann Finch Architects' Trevor De Waal said the selected mixture of weathered and pre-painted steel Azure panels reflects Penrith's character as a modern city in a rural backdrop.

BlueScope's Facades business is the first in Australia to provide cassette-style weathering steel panels (also called "corten”). With the support of its Facades Engineering Team, customers have the advantage of effectively working with one point of contact from design to installation.

Mr De Waal also said another reason to use the Azure™ Facades system was the absence of sealant-filled joints. "That level of crispness in detailing makes the Facades product an attractive proposition.”
