5 Millionth Tonne Production

History was made at BlueScope Steel's Western Port plant on Wednesday, 24 January 2001 when the 5 millionth tonne of COLORBOND® steel rolled of the No.4 paintline at 11:30 am.

Present at the event were Kirby Adams (CEO, BlueScope Steel), Rob Hull (Victorian Minister for Manufacturing Industry), John Cleary (President), Carl Perry (National Marketing Manager - Building) and many other invited guests, staff and industry representatives. 

Special mention was made of the crew from the production of the first coil of COLORBOND® steel.  Des Gardner, Tony Roberts, John Plummer and Bob Jordan were there from the production crew, as were Adrian Robinson, Ian Denney and Mick Williams from the quality control/technical team.
