Charity renovation project The Love Shack

The House that Love Built

10 June 2004

Northern Territory residents are being given the opportunity to raise money for children in need this weekend when charity renovation project "The Love Shack" goes up for auction.

The three bedroom home is due to be auctioned 12 June with all monies raised going to "Variety of the Northern Territory' which fundraises for sick, disabled and disadvantaged children.

And because the home has been fitted with a roof made from COLORBOND® Metallic steel, whoever purchases the property can rest assured that come rain, hail or shine, their home and family will be protected by a roof made tough, and designed to withstand harsh tropical conditions.

Northern Territory roofing company Halikos, who were approached by Channel 7 to get involved with the project, not only donated the roof made from COLORBOND® Metallic steel, but also time, labour and technical assistance throughout the renovation.

Halikos Managing Director, Shane Dignan, said "We were really pleased to get involved in such a worthy cause.

"COLORBOND® Metallic steel is such a premium quality product we felt it was the only choice for such a worthwhile project."

COLORBOND® Metallic steel is part of the COLORBOND® steel Premium Range and has been developed by BlueScope Steel for the ultimate in beauty and design performance.

Available in six stunning designer colours, the distinctive reflective surface of COLORBOND® Metallic steel enhances building design with subtle yet dramatic effects, endless nuances and dynamic changeable qualities.

In summer, a lightweight roof made from COLORBOND® steel causes less heat to be radiated inside as it cools down at night. And in winter the same steel roof, properly insulated, helps keep the heat inside.

A roof made from COLORBOND® steel is weather tight. This means no gaps and no leaks, even in torrential rain. It is also thermally efficient and corrosion resistant with the added benefit of being non-combustible and fire resistant.

The property is located at 2 Johnson Place, Rapid Creek, NT.
