Yes. As with other bright and light-coloured materials, consideration should be given to visual amenity, particularly in hilly terrain where the roof can be viewed by neighbouring properties to the south and above.

No, generally not. The steel infill panels, posts and rails are the same colour on both sides. You can add some colour variety by 'mix and matching' sheets, posts, rails, lattice and caps of different colours along the fenceline, see our fencing colours page to help with your colour choice. Please note that you cannot place infill sheets of different colours back to back - the posts and rails are not designed for this. The only way to achieve a different colour on one side of the fence is to paint it. Overpainting will, however, result in a surface which is not as durable as the original oven-baked COLORBOND® steel paint finish. Painting the fence will also void any warranty on the infill sheets. However, if you have a substantial development proposal that might involve a large quantity then please contact us.

Standard heights for COLORBOND® steel are 1.5m and 1.8m. These are readily available. If you require a different height, this can generally be organised by your supplier - however you may need to wait longer and there may be extra charges applicable.

No. In summer a lightweight roof made from COLORBOND® steel or ZINCALUME® steel causes less heat to be radiated into your home because it cools down faster at night. And in winter, the same steel roof, properly insulated, helps keep the heat inside. This can result in reduced cooling and heating costs.

Many people enjoy the sound of rain falling on their steel roof. They feel more attuned to nature, or it brings back fond memories of childhood. For those who don't, rain noise can be reduced by using an insulating blanket. This is placed directly under the roof sheeting to dampen sound vibrations, reducing noise and making for a peaceful environment inside.
