Where can I find information about the changes to the AS 1548 standard?

Will the grades from the 1995 version of the standard be available after the roll out of the 2008 version of AS 1548?
BlueScope Steel will continue to supply pressure vessel grades in accordance with the 1995 version of AS 1548 for a period of time. In most cases there is a close equivalent grade between the 1995 and 2008 versions of the AS 1548 standard. Should you have a need to obtain a particular grade in accordance with either the 1995 or the 2008 versions of AS 1548 then please contact BlueScope Steel Direct on Free Call 1 800 789 to discuss your requirements.

In what sizes will the grades made to the 2008 version of the standard be available?
The availability of the grades in the 2008 version of the standard will not differ substantially from the grades available in the 1995 version of the standard.

Will there be data sheets available for the AS 1548 grades in the 2008 version of the standard?

Will the mechanical or chemical properties of the new grades differ from those in the 1995 version of the standard?
The grades in the 1995 and 2008 versions of the standard will be very similar. However, there will be some differences between some of the grades in the two versions of the standard. When is BlueScope Steel introducing the 2008 version of AS 1548?
BlueScope proposes to introduce the revised grades progressively in 2010. The grades will be initially available as part of the Custom Range and then rolled out as the standard grades in the later half of 2010.

Why the delay in introducing the 2008 version of AS 1548?
BlueScope Steel has delayed introducing the new version of AS 1548 until it obtained clarification with regards to the status of the grades in the ASME code. ASME have now approved the grades in the 2008 version of the AS 1548 Standard.
